Tar Heel Bred Tar Heel Dead

We posted some supposed message board post from Drew’s mom a couple days back. In it, she basically tears Tar Heel fans a new one, and claims that Drew will have the last laugh when he’s making millions in the pros. (Hmmm, would that be for the Atlanta Hawks, perhaps?)

Here are two more posts this angry, angry lady supposedly wrote:

With the UNC basketball world buzzing about Larry Drew’s mysterious exit, it seems former Heel Rashad McCants and his father have decided to weigh in on the issue. And it ain’t pretty. McCants and his dad supposedly posted Facebook messages calling Wiliams a liar and a “career wrecker.” (more…)

  • Justin Knox is one solid, efficient dude. He shot 3-4 from the field, 2-2 from the line and had 8 points in just 16 minutes. Love him.
  • Zeller needs to get more touches. He seemed able to score almost at will with his patented jump hook, but he hardly saw the ball at all in the first half.
  • Chris Singleton is a punk. Fouling out against the walk-ons just comes off as whiny.
  • Marshall again threw the back-door alley hoop to Henson. Can anyone stop that play?
  • Harrison Barnes of late has hustled more than about anyone on the team, getting to a ton of loose balls.
  • Dexter Strickland seems to be developing a go-to move, which is weave through everyone on the defense and make a contested lay up. Shades of Lawson.
  • I wonder where Larry Drew was watching this game. I really hope it was at Eddie Murphy’s house with his ex-girlfriend.

Here is the blog post we mention in this week’s podcast.  We bring you nothing but hard hitting journalism when we quote from a cut-and-paste from some anonymous dude in the comments section of a blog.  TRUTH!

Only 25 episodes in, and already, we’ve done two shows about surprise transfers. Not cool. This time, Larry Drew bolts Chapel Hill hidden in the back of a potato truck. Also, Duke sucks. But then, you knew that.

What does Roy do now with no Larry Drew?  Naturally, you’ll get more Kendall (aka “Butter”) Marshall than you can shake a stick (…of butter) at.

Those of you that have been clamoring for Marshall to get 30 minutes per game are going to get your wish.  Kendall is going to start and get as many minutes as he can handle.  Since Dexter Strickland is the only other guy on the roster who has even sniffed the point guard position, he’ll be the backup.  I can’t imagine that the starting 2 guard will also be the backup 1, so that means Dex moves to the bench.  Drew was obviously playing well as a backup but I’m not too worried about Dex handling 8-10 minutes there per game.  We can get by.

Here’s where it gets interesting. (more…)

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Larry.

After rumors swirled all morning about his departure, Roy confirmed a few minutes ago that his (now) back-up point guard has left the team effective immediately. At least Larry didn’t give that one about wanting “to spend more time with his family.” Roy said:

This morning I spoke to Larry Drew Sr. and he informed me that it was in Larry II’s best interest to leave North Carolina at this time. Personally I hate this for Larry and our team because he was such an important part of our team and he has continued to improve and played well in recent games. He was our defensive award winner in two of our last four games and has handled the ball really well in our four-game win streak. (more…)

Are there clues on the players’ Twitter feeds? Seems so.

John Henson tweeted: Hmmmmm where is @LarryAngeles ??? Lol

That seems about all the confirmation you need.

As for Larry Drew (LarryAngeles), he just tweeted: they say don’t ask permission just ask forgiveness, you know?.. so.. forgive me

The only other team tweet that seems to have relevance to the situation is Justin Knox. He wrote: Teamwork makes the dream work.

Now, if you believe all the rumors about Drew being a divisive force on the team and in the locker room (and his parents aren’t helping things, word is), maybe this is Knox’s way of saying things are about to get a little better. Maybe that’s also what Henson’s “lol” means. We’ll see.

Larry Drew II Leaving?

Not what you want to hear when the team is playing well.  We will watch this closely to see where it goes…
