Tar Heel Bred Tar Heel Dead

In an interesting interview with Slam, Danny Green reveals that he had second thoughts about staying at UNC, because of his lack of playing time early on and his father’s incarceration.

SLAM: How close were you to transferring?

DG: Very close. Very, very close. As close as you can get without signing the papers. It was pretty much my decision, but everybody else wanted me to come back home. I was like, I’m gonna stay. But I was very close to leaving.

Oh, what could have been. Green was one of the keys to 2009 championship team and had he left…you just have to shudder. Maybe the team could have still pulled it off, but maybe not. Green was so versatile and did everything on the court, from rebounding to steals to three-pointers to horribly, horribly posterizing Greg Paulus. Without him, do you think Carolina would have won it all?
