We’re trying not to get our hopes up. We really are. But what to make of the news that Hairston dropped 49 points in a NC Pro Am game? That’s 46 more than he had in the Elite 8 contest against Kansas. We had such high hopes for the guy last season, and he just completely disappeared for most of it, proving to be the second most disappointing Tar Heel after Harrison Barnes.
Sorry. That wasn’t fair.
But we know Hairston can shoot. We know he’s big and strong and can take contact. We know he can drive to the basket. We’re just hoping this is the year he really starts to assert himself.
